a fetus' hemoglobin has higher affinity to oxygen than the mother. This is the case b/c the fetus has to take the Oxygen from the mother's hemoglobin. So, essentially when the mother's Hb encounters the fetus Hb, the fetus will get oxygenated and the mother's will be deoxygenated. Make sense?

darn...the only information i put there that is the same as your answer was that the fetus has a higher affinity for O2...

so...what type of receptor is used for the skeletal muscle? Is it one of the 5 types (chemoreceptor, mechanoreceptor, pain receptor, electromagreceptor, another-one-that-i-forgot-receptor)?
