Compartmentalization

What should we know about compartmentalization besides how there are different "compartments" in the body that have different duties? I was not sure if it was mentioned during the review.

Nothing extra was added in the review by Dr. Wasserman on this subject. I would refer to your notes and know the compartments/organs that were emphasized in lecture and understand what functions they have in digestion (i.e. what they digest, what enzymes they have, etc.). Know also the concept for why we have compartmentalized digestion, that meaning overcoming the problem of self digestion in the process and how to get all the monomers from the macromolecules we take in that we need for our body's functions. Good Luck.
